Job description
Overview

Applicants are invited to apply for our Senior Clinical Fellow (CESR) position in the Anaesthetics department.

Department Context

Our department is staffed by 80 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 2 Specialist Grade Anaesthetists, 1 Specialty Doctor and about 40 trainees ranging from CT1‑ST7. Eight Senior Clinical Fellows currently work in the anaesthetic department, alongside trainees from acute medicine, respiratory medicine and emergency medicine who rotate through training in Intensive care. The department also employs 11 Anaesthesia Associates and is supported by five secretaries in anaesthesia and two in critical care.

Responsibilities
  • Equivalent to a senior post-fellowship specialist registrar including out of hours work in anaesthesia and intensive care with local or distant supervision.
  • Opportunities to experience a wide range of anaesthetic specialties and undertake audit/QI projects with the support of the department.
  • Specialty elective anaesthesia includes airway, head and neck, regional, obstetrics, paediatrics, neuro, cardiac, vascular, major GI surgery, robotic surgery and plastics.
Selection Criteria
  • CERs (Completed Early Registration Scheme) status.
  • Evidence of senior post‑fellowship level competence in anaesthesia.
  • Ability to work independently with local or distant supervision during out of hours service.
