Job summary

A prominent NHS hospital is seeking a qualified Anaesthetist to join their team. This role offers a chance to gain diverse experience in general and subspecialty anaesthetics, including cardiac anaesthesia. Candidates must possess a medical qualification, be registered with the GMC, and hold a Primary FRCA. Excellent communication skills are essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

There are opportunities within this role, outside of the on‑call commitment, to gain experience in many of the general and subspecialty areas of anaesthetics we offer at King’s. We have successfully delivered higher training modules for CESR candidates for several years and with discussion, this could also be an option for this post holder. Equally within cardiac there will be opportunities to be involved in cardiac anaesthesia, high risk perioperative assessment, MDMs and cardiac cath lab cases.

Training and Experience
Essential criteria
  • Relevant post‑graduate experience in anaesthesia
  • Evidence that career progression is consistent with personal circumstances
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of excellence in training e.g. prizes, publications
  • Previous work in cardiac anaesthesia and intensive care
  • Completion of resuscitation courses such as ALS, ATLS
Personal Skills
Essential criteria
  • Effective communicator, able to work in a close‑knit team and co‑operate with all medical and paramedical staff
  • Good standard of written and spoken English to facilitate communication with patients, healthcare professionals and other staff
Desirable criteria
  • Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills.
