Job summary

RD Financial Recruitment Limited is seeking a Senior Client Accountant in Wokingham to join a growing practice. ACA/ACCA qualified accountants will manage a varied SME portfolio, oversee statutory and management accounts, and mentor junior staff.

You'll build strong client relationships, deliver high-quality financial advice, and work in a collaborative, hybrid environment with day-to-day leadership support from senior leadership.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent) is required.
• Experience in an accountancy practice handling SME portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of statutory accounts, management accounts, VAT and corporation tax.
• Experience reviewing work and mentoring junior team members.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Able to manage multiple deadlines with a proactive, commercial approach.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME clients and act as their trusted contact.

• Review corporation tax and VAT returns and other compliance work.

The Role

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME clients, acting as their trusted point of contact.
• Review and oversee the preparation of statutory accounts, management accounts and financial statements.
• Review corporation tax returns, VAT returns and other compliance work.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with clients, providing commercial and financial advice.
• Manage workflow across your client portfolio, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Supervise, mentor and develop junior members of the team.
• Review work prepared by junior accountants, providing constructive feedback and technical support.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and add value for clients.
• Work closely with senior leadership to support the continued growth of the practice.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal quality procedures.

About You

You'll be an experienced accountant from an accountancy practice background who enjoys managing client relationships and leading others.

You'll ideally have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification orequivalent?
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients.
• Strong knowledge of statutory accounts, management accounts, VAT and corporation tax.
• Experience reviewing work and supporting junior team members.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• A proactive, commercial approach with a genuine passion for delivering outstanding client service.
