Senior Claims Handler

Our Claims team in Chelmsford are looking for an experienced Senior Claims Handler to join the team in providing top-class service to all clients.

Please note, a valid UK driving licence is highly desirable for this role.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Managing the entire claims process from notification to settlement, ensuring accuracy, compliance with policy terms, and timely resolution, while maintaining up-to-date records and preparing required reports.
  • Providing proactive communication, timely issue resolution, and exceptional customer service to keep claimants informed and supported throughout the process.
  • Conducting thorough investigations, gathering documentation, assessing damages and liabilities, and negotiating fair settlements with all parties, ensuring prompt payment in line with company procedures.
  • Ensuring all claims are handled in compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards, reporting suspicious or fraudulent claims, and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with data protection regulations.
What we’re looking for:
  • Robust experience in managing complex cross‑class claims (property, casualty, and motor trade), and Cert CII is essential for this role.
  • A solid understanding of the insurance market, policy terms, coverage, and claims procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to build rapport with customers and stakeholders.
  • A customer‑centric approach by delivering high‑quality service, applying strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, maintaining attention to detail and discretion with sensitive information, and remaining calm and professional under pressure.
