Amentum seeks a Civil Engineer to support the SWIF programme at HM Naval Base Devonport, Plymouth. You will review designs, assess risks, support constructability reviews and provide engineering insight to ensure delivery aligns with objectives.

This long-term hybrid role requires on-site presence in Plymouth 2–3 days per week and offers a supportive team environment with a focus on safety, collaboration and professional development.

Competenze

• Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and working toward IEng/CEng.
• Substantial experience in civil engineering design, construction or infrastructure delivery.
• Marine/port design experience and seismic design knowledge.
• Reinforced concrete design knowledge.

About the opportunity:

Join our team and support the delivery of civil engineering assurance services across the SWIF programme. (Submarine Waterfront Infrastructure Future (SWIF) at Devonport)

The SWIF project is a critical infrastructure upgrade at HM Naval Base Devonport in Plymouth, Western Europe's largest naval support facility. Working within the engineering assurance team, the Civil Engineer will review designs, assess technical risks, support constructability reviews, and provide engineering insight to help ensure infrastructure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme objectives. This long term hybrid role and requires working on site at Plymouth 2 to 3 days per week.

Typical Deliverables:

• Inputs to monthly technical assurance reports.
• Technical review notes and observations.
• Design review comments and recommendations.
• Engineering risk assessments.
• Constructability review inputs.
• Technical briefing papers and presentations.
• Contributions to programme governance reporting.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Progressing toward, or holding, Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
• Substantial experience in civil engineering design, construction or infrastructure delivery
• Civil engineering design understanding ideally in Marine/Port design experience
• Knowledge of seismic design/analysis
• Design of reinforced concrete structures
