Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking a Technical Director - Civil Engineering in Manchester. You will lead technical delivery across major infrastructure projects, acting as a senior authority and shaping technical strategy. The role involves hybrid work with UK-wide travel and collaboration with internal and client teams.

You will bring Chartered Engineer status and a proven track record in leading complex civil engineering programmes, with strong leadership, communication and commercial skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer status with a recognised institution.
• Extensive experience in senior technical/leadership roles in complex infrastructure.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary projects and programmes.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across civil engineering and related initiatives.
• Act as a recognised technical authority on complex civil engineering matters.
• Represent the organisation’s civil engineering capability to clients and partners.
• Provide strategic technical oversight across multidisciplinary projects and programmes.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients and stakeholders at all levels to deliver high-quality delivery.
• Maintain robust engineering governance, standards and best practice across projects.
• Identify improvements to processes, standards and delivery methodologies.
• Support bids/proposals with technically robust delivery strategies.
• Identify opportunities for business development and client relationship growth.
• Mentor and develop the civil engineering team and future leaders.
