Senior Civil Engineer

Reading (Hybrid)

Salary up to £65k plus benefits

We’re looking for a talented Senior Civil Engineer to help shape the future of water and wastewater treatment across the Thames Valley and Home Counties. This is your chance to join a major utilities provider during an exciting period of investment and transformation — delivering essential infrastructure that keeps communities running and protects the environment for to come.

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the design and delivery of complex water and wastewater network projects — from concept to construction.

  • Leading and reviewing the design development of multiple infrastructure projects.
  • Managing and mitigating project risks to ensure robust, cost-effective delivery.
  • Overseeing contractors and ensuring detailed design changes are properly implemented.
  • Supporting project teams through commissioning and asset handover.
  • Conducting design reviews to ensure safe, practical, and compliant solutions.
  • Acting as a key contact for CDM Designer or Principal Designer responsibilities during early design stages.

This is a hybrid role, with around 2–3 days a week on-site (typically in the Reading area).

What we’re looking for

We’re keen to speak with engineers who can bring both technical expertise and practical experience to the table. Ideally, you’ll have:

  • A degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered status (or are working towards it) with a recognised professional body.
  • Experience working with utilities or process industries such as water, wastewater, or oil & gas pipelines.
  • A good grasp of project delivery, design principles, and construction health & safety.
  • An understanding of industrial processes within your engineering discipline.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car would be helpful, but it’s not a deal-breaker — we’re open to applicants who can manage travel in other ways.
What’s in it for you

You’ll be joining a supportive, forward-thinking organisation that values its people and invests in their development.

  • Salary: £55,000–£65,000 (depending on experience).
  • Holidays: 26 days per year, rising to 30 with service (plus bank holidays).
  • Pension: Defined contribution plan with up to 12% company match.
  • Health: Annual personal medical assessments.
  • Performance-related bonus linked to company performance.
  • Access to a comprehensive benefits hub offering discounts, wellbeing support, and more.
