Job summary

Barhale is seeking a Senior Engineer to provide site engineering duties across regional projects, supervising trainees and site engineers. You will establish level and survey control, set out works, and ensure compliance with QA and safety standards.

The role requires a civil engineering degree, AutoCAD experience, CSCS/SMSTS qualifications, and strong communication with client teams. On-site responsibilities include managing resources and coordinating with Site Agents.

Qualifications

• Previous experience setting out on civil engineering projects, including highways and reinforced concrete works.
• Degree or HNC in civil engineering.
• CSCS card is required.
• SMSTS certification.
• Confined space training.
• Experience using AutoCAD.
• Ability to communicate with client representatives and site operatives.
• Ability to manage and deliver a project with minimal guidance.
• Experience in running reports and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Establish the level and survey control for contracts and handover to Site Engineer for daily setting out.
• Set out detailed works per contract drawings and ensure regular checks.
• Be present for critical setting out activities.
• Ensure records of health, safety and environment are complete and compliant.
• Deliver work safely and to specified quality without defects.
• Assist the Site Agent in developing efficient work methods and resource use.
• Act as Deputy for Sub/Site Agent when required.
• Undertake materials procurement and pre-start take-offs.
