The role will be accountable for the technical output of Civil design as a nominated contractor’s responsible engineer design (CRE-D). To develop civil / structural solutions and designs from feasibility stage through to construction documentation. To manage and coordinate with other disciplines during design development.
To ensure compliance to relevant engineering standards meeting the requirements of the client remit, as well as relevant legislation, company standards, and client procedures.
The role will be client facing and will act as key interface as part of bid stage and contract commissions.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the nominated Contractor’s Responsible Engineer Design (CRE-D) for Civil / Structural Engineering design.
- Lead and prepare design in accordance with Eurocodes, and NR standardsacross projects ranging from GRIP 1 to GRIP 5 / RIBA 2 to 5
- Prepare/manage civil / structural engineering design drawings, calculations, reports, and supporting documentation to Network Rail standards / Building regulations
- Coordinate and manage engineering activities so that they result in civil / structural schemes that are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality.
- Coordinate with a multi-disciplinary to ensure that civil / structural design deliverables meet to Network Rail standards / building regulations
- Manage resources, junior engineers and CAD technicians, to complete the deliverables
- Monitor specific projects so that they are engineered to the standards and specification of the client, allocated design and construction contracts include reference to and are compliant with appropriate standards, formal specifications and procedures.
- Implement systems and procedures to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities on relevant projects, compliant with all relevant legislation. Liaise with regulators and others as appropriate.
- To support growth of the EPCM team, recruitment of technical and staff and manage the mentoring of junior engineers

Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer Registration status with the Engineering Council (UK) and be registered with an appropriate professional institution
- Technical qualifications to degree in relevant subject BEng/MEng
- Project and team-running experience in UK consultancy, client, or contractor organisation
- Excellent understanding to Eurocode, Network Rail and associated rail standards, and related regulations (CDM, CSM, RIR)
- Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers
- Excellent engineering, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- CITB CSCS scheme
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desirable:
- DPE / CEM / CRE-D experience
