The ideal candidate will have a Chartered civil engineer status, 7+ years in civil/structural design, and experience with National Grid Transmission projects, delivering compliant designs to BS/Eurocodes standards.

As a company they are expanding their construction presence across the UK to deliver multiple services to the UK energy and low carbon infrastructure market.

About the Role - They are looking for a Senior Engineer to join their Transmission & Distribution team in Birmingham on a long-term contract basis to Support the Section Manager.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed civil/structural engineering design packages, compliant to required client and national technical standards (BS/Eurocodes/ENA), including civil design and analysis of foundations, structural substation components, steel structures and other civil structural components, using industry standard software.
• Lead various civil project designs including site design, land development, roads, storm drainage systems, storm water management facilities, water and sanitary sewer utility design, sediment and erosion control, and facility design.
• Undertake technical quality assurance reviews and provide design approval/sign-off, as required, on civil and structural engineering designs.
• Plan and lead project and client meetings and act as Principal Designer representative

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with Chartership

Required Skills

• Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH Cert./Dip., NVQ
• 7 years of civil and structural engineering design experience, with at least 5 years of experience in the electricity transmission & distribution sector.
• Advanced knowledge in civil and structural engineering related design, calculations and design systems.
• Thorough understanding of current Construction (Design & Management)
• Experience of working in a lead civil/structural engineering design role on National Grid Electricity Transmission projects in the UK and acting as a TP137 CDAE for Substation Civil/Structural.

Preferred Skills

• Good knowledge of National Grid's Transmission Procedures

Pay range and compensation package

This is a contract role working outside of IR35 based in the Midlands.
