Job description

Society is in your hands, what are you waiting for?

We are currently looking for a talented and ambitious Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. The role could be based in either our Ipswich, London or Solent offices.

What does the role involve?

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer you will take ownership and lead on a wide range of projects from inception to completion. Our range of projects cover all major sectors including large residential sites, hospitals, offices, commercial warehouses, film studio and renewable energy schemes.

Key Responsibilities Will Include
  • Design - Lead the design and implementation of complex, innovative and sustainable drainage and infrastructure solutions for a variety of private and public sector projects, ensuring technical excellence. Undertake the design and detailing of civil engineering schemes, drainage strategies, feasibility studies, inspections, surveys and reports.
  • Calculations - Leading detailed hydraulic and hydrological calculations, cut and fill analysis and highways design, using specialised software. Collating calculation packages suitable for submission to external parties. Checking the work of less experienced team members.
  • Project Documentation - managing project portals and common data environments. Adhering to the standard ISO27001 information security management systems (ISMS). Preparing complex reports, presentation documents and technical drawings suitable for planning applications and construction. Leading the production of construction layouts, details, specifications and technical submissions including highway and water authority section agreements (S278, S38, S104, S185 etc). Contributing to the preparation of fee/tender proposals.
  • Coordination & Collaboration - Leading in the development of highway and infrastructure layouts and the identification of project issues. Collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams (both in and outside of the UK) and liaising with clients, contractors and regulatory bodies to ensure project success. Leading some client meetings and presentations to convey design concepts and findings. Assist with client relationship management.
What do you need to be successful in the role?

You’ll be able to hit the ground running, delivering drainage and highway schemes associated with building projects and coordinating designs with utilities and other disciplines.

This senior role would suit an engineer with the ability to work independently and take responsibility for their own projects whilst providing support and guidance to less experienced members of the team.

You’ll have excellent understanding of flood risk management principles, drainage, earthworks and highways design with advanced proficiency in software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, InfoDrainage and Navisworks or similar. You should also have strong knowledge of environmental and sustainability standards, sewerage sector guidance (DCG), SUDS standards, local and national Highway standards including DMRB/MCHW, Building Regulations and good practice.

Experience in producing Flood Risk Assessments (Flood Risk Zones 1 & 2) would be highly beneficial, ideally within London and whilst not essential experience in Mission Critical would be an advantage.

You’ll have a bachelor’s degree (preferably a Masters), HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related field. You’ll also likely be or working towards becoming a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (ICE or others) along with demonstrable project delivery and management experience.

What’s in it for you?

You’ll experience an inclusive, friendly and flexible working environment where colleagues are encouraged to grow and develop. A meaningful job where you’ll help to transform society by being a trusted consultant to our clients.

If you believe you have the skill set required, are keen to join a business with genuine opportunities for career progression, then we’d love to hear from you.
