Job summary

Advance Training & Recruitment Services is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer on a contract basis to join a market-leading civil & structural team delivering power and infrastructure projects from London, Warwick or Manchester. The role requires taking ownership of defined design packages and delivering high-quality civil designs with minimal supervision in a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong civil engineering design experience.
• Experience using Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Experience using MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
• Knowledge of drainage, earthworks, pavement design, hardstanding, external works, levels and grading, utilities and ducting, underground services.

Responsibilities

• Deliver civil engineering design packages across a broad range of civil works.
• Take ownership of allocated work packages and deliver them independently.
• Undertake design work covering: drainage, earthworks, pavement and hardstanding design, external works, levels and grading, utilities and ducting, roads and access interfaces, underground services.
• Coordinate civil design information with wider multidisciplinary project teams.
• Manage technical interfaces between civil, structural, utilities and other disciplines.
• Produce and review engineering drawings, calculations and technical information.
• Use industry-standard design software, including Civil 3D and MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage.
• Support delivery of projects across Power, Infrastructure, Buildings and Development environments.
• Work to relevant technical standards, project requirements and quality procedures.

Senior Civil Engineer – Contract

Location: London, Warwick or Manchester

Working Pattern: Hybrid

Contract: Contract / Interim

Sector: Power / Infrastructure, with potential Nuclear & Defence opportunities

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our client who are a market leading consultancy and within the Civil & Structural team during a busy period of project delivery.

This contract opportunity would suit a civil engineer who can quickly integrate into an established project environment, take ownership of defined design packages and deliver high-quality work independently with minimal supervision.

The initial focus will be on Power sector projects, with civil engineering activities associated with substations and wider infrastructure. There may also be opportunities to support Nuclear and Defence projects, subject to the required security clearance.

About You

The successful candidate will have a broad civil engineering design background rather than experience limited solely to drainage.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of defined design packages and working independently within a multidisciplinary project environment.

Essential Experience

• Degree or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering.
• Strong civil engineering design experience.
• Experience using Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Experience using MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Drainage
  • Earthworks
  • Pavement design
  • Hardstanding
  • External works
  • Levels and grading
  • Utilities and ducting
  • Underground services
• Experience coordinating 3D underground services.
• Experience delivering defined civil engineering design packages independently.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines.

Desirable Experience

• Experience within the Power / Utilities sector.
• Substation or electrical infrastructure experience.
• Nuclear or Defence sector experience.
• Experience working on complex infrastructure projects.
• Chartered Engineer status or Incorporated Member of ICE (IEng).
• Existing UK security clearance.

Security Clearance

The role may involve projects requiring security clearance.

Basic clearance will be required for the initial Power sector work, while SC clearance may be required for Nuclear or Defence projects.

The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance in line with client and sector requirements. Certain projects may also have additional nationality or residency requirements.
