Overview

Senior Civil Engineer – Glasgow. First People Solutions is recruiting for a well-established consulting engineer located in Glasgow. This respected consultancy has built a strong presence across civil, structural, and geo-environmental engineering, with over four decades of experience delivering technically complex projects. They are recognised for innovative and sustainable design, professional standards, and staff development. Their portfolio spans residential, commercial, and industrial projects, including high-profile regeneration schemes and public sector frameworks. They are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to work on a variety of small to medium-sized projects while taking a lead role in both technical design and team management, with clear opportunities for career progression.

Responsibilities
  • Lead small to medium projects, including design calculations for roads and drainage, surveys, technical reports, and compliance checks.
  • Management and mentor graduate engineers and technicians; providing coaching and professional development support.
  • Communicate directly with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams; manage approvals, attend project meetings, and coordinate integrated designs.
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and CDM compliance.
Your Experience & Background
  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Civil Engineer working in a design engineering environment in the UK with strong technical and design capability
  • Skilled AutoCAD, PDS, WinDes or equivalent software
  • Confident working directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers
  • Chartered or working toward chartered status
  • Able to travel to site when required
