Job summary

Strata Consulting Limited in Edinburgh or Glasgow is looking for a Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer to lead highways, drainage and infrastructure design from feasibility to construction for mixed-use developments.

You will join a multidisciplinary team, liaising with developers, authorities and clients while progressing toward Chartered Engineer status in a supportive engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in civil infrastructure design within a UK engineering consultancy.
• Experience with highways, drainage, SuDS and development infrastructure.
• Knowledge of UK design standards (DMRB, Designing Streets, sewerage guidance).

Responsibilities

• Deliver highways, drainage and civil infrastructure designs for developments.
• Produce feasibility studies, drainage strategies and masterplans.
• Prepare technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings.
• Design foul and surface water drainage systems and estate roads.
• Coordinate approvals with local authorities and utilities.
• Manage multiple projects to programme and budget.
• Liaise with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Working within an established Development Infrastructure team, you'll be involved in a diverse range of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, delivering highways, drainage and infrastructure design from initial feasibility through to detailed design and construction.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Civil Engineer looking to take greater ownership of projects, work with major developers and progress their career within a supportive and technically strong engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver highways, drainage and civil infrastructure designs for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
• Produce feasibility studies, drainage strategies, infrastructure masterplans and detailed design packages.
• Prepare technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings.
• Design foul and surface water drainage systems, SuDS and estate roads.
• Coordinate technical approvals and statutory agreements with local authorities, Scottish Water and other stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget and technical standards.
• Liaise with clients, architects, developers and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

Experience Required

• Proven experience in civil infrastructure design within a UK engineering consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of highways, drainage, SuDS and development infrastructure.
• Experience using Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, PDS or similar design software.
• Knowledge of relevant UK design standards, including DMRB, Designing Streets and sewerage guidance.
• Experience preparing technical submissions and securing infrastructure approvals.
• Good understanding of flood risk, drainage strategies and sustainable development.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to manage projects and liaise directly with clients.
