Job summary

ALS is seeking a Chemistry Organics Technical Manager to support the Chemistry Operations Manager at our Coventry site, delivering strong quality and technical leadership.

You will maintain ISO 17025 quality systems, lead NCW/AQC investigations, approve method changes, evaluate PT performance, and ensure analyst CPD records.

This part-time, permanent role (30 hours/week, Wed–Sat) includes benefits and opportunities to contribute to high‑caliber analytical work.

Qualifications

• HND, HNC or degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Minimum of five years' experience in a technical Chemistry role.
• Extensive knowledge of Chemistry quality systems.
• Experience with proficiency testing (PT), AQC and NCW investigations.
• Experience working to ISO 17025 accreditation; MCERTS/ISO14001/45001 is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and influence constructive decisions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the quality management system to ISO 17025 standards.
• Conduct technical reviews of NCW and AQC investigations.
• Review method control charts and approve limit changes as required.
• Evaluate proficiency testing (PT) performance.
• Monitor analyst competence and CPD records.
• Approve Annual Method Reviews and quality documentation.
• Support development and improvement of analytical methods.
• Collaborate with Chemistry teams to resolve technical issues.
