Senior Chemical / Process Engineer c£ up to 60k

As an experienced Senior Chemical Engineer / Process Engineer leading within multidisciplinary engineering teams you will play a key role in reviewing design proposals and improvements to confirm they are technically sound, cost-effective, and suitable for real-world operation, ensuring the safe, efficient, and sustainable treatment and delivery of systems. As senior process engineer you will be responsible for monitoring, optimising, and improving treatment processes, working closely with operations, maintenance, and compliance teams to meet regulatory standards and performance targets.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop and appraise process design solutions for treatment works.
  • Providing technical solutions and support on complex capital projects, including the production of project scoping documents, Works & Site Information, Design Drawings, CDM Documents and compilation of job packs to required deadlines.
  • Preparing process design calculations and reviewing Contractor design calculations.
  • Evaluating Whole Life Cost and TOTEX costings for process solutions.
  • Developing Process and asset performance guarantees.
  • Developing robust risk assessed solutions that deliver value to the business.
  • Ensure quality of deliverables meet business and regulatory needs, including Check and Review of project scopes ensuring they achieve the required outputs and quality standards.
  • Providing process-related technical support for commissioning of schemes.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to seek approvals and facilitate project progress.
  • Optimising operation of new and existing assets and identifying and evaluating innovative processes and equipment.
  • Mentoring of Graduate and Process Engineers at project level, promoting and encouraging Chartership.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree level or equivalent, preferably in chemical engineering or a relevant scientific or engineering field.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered status.
  • Knowledge of industrial treatment processes, awareness of the environment or similar industrial background.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to collaborate and influence senior colleagues.
  • Ability to demonstrate and implement sound engineering judgement, identifying innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and how it is applied to projects.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel/Google Workspace would be an advantage.
  • A passion for continuous professional development.
  • A recognised senior engineer with substantial industry experience with a reputation for technical excellence.
  • Designing and optimising clean water treatment process plants.
  • A strong awareness and understanding of industry standards, regulations and specifications.
  • Understanding of NEC contracts and their application.
  • Sound knowledge of the relevant regulations and Process Engineering specific standards and practices
  • Budget management experience
