Job description

Hollis is looking to recruit a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor, to join our growing team located in Ashford, Kent. This role will support the Surveying team on a wide range of projects, including commercial and residential buildings in all forms of construction.

This position is an opportunity for the successful candidate to showcase their drive and passion for building surveying and create their own career path with the support of the wider Hollis business. The candidate’s ambition, professionalism, good communication skills and high standards of client care, are essential to the role.

You will be responsible for:

• Carrying out inspections and providing advice on the construction, repair, maintenance and refurbishment of all types of buildings.
• Carrying out inspections and surveys, including acquisition, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations
• Preparing reports, schedule of works & works specifications.
• Designing and overseeing works, aligning with recognised building contracts and to current technical standards.
• Undertaking projects independently, using expert knowledge on all aspects of professional consultancy services.
• Understanding and applying any relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations and planning.
• Providing leadership and support to APC candidates to promote knowledge and understanding.

About you:

• MRICS accredited.
• Experience and working knowledge of consulting, surveying and ancillary engineering, practices and procedures supported by an awareness of the latest statutory requirements.
• Experience in defect diagnosis and report writing.
• Experience in negotiating with other professionals and key project stakeholders.
• Experience in leading instructions from inception to completion.
• Experience working to deadlines and within budgets on large scale projects.
• Experience and understanding of CDM Regs, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation
• Flexible, Profession and ‘Can do’ Attitude, in driving Hollis’s business ethos.
