Siemens Mobility Limited is seeking a Senior Certification Engineer to lead end-to-end certification for GSM-R and FRMCS onboard cab radio systems. You will manage the certification lifecycle with NoBo/ApBo, develop compliance documentation, and support the sales team with expert guidance.

The Mobile Communications business in Poole supplies on-board communications equipment and associated technical solutions to rail industry operators and suppliers worldwide. This includes the GSM-R Cab Radio with GPS and LTE connectivity and the GSM-R Data Radio. We have earned a respected reputation in the industry which has developed as a result of our success in delivering to our customers across the globe. In addition, we are leading the way within the railway industry in developing the next generation of rail communications (Future Railway Mobile Communication System), based on 5G technology, so this is a great time to join the business in the development of a new, exciting technology.
As a Senior Certification Engineer, you will be the technical authority ensuring our mission‑critical GSM‑R and FRMCS onboard cab radio systems meet the highest standards of safety and interoperability. In this pivotal role critical to the success of the business, you will navigate the complex regulatory landscapes of the UK and EU, ensuring our voice and data communication products comply with the EU and UK standards for Interoperability (CCS TSI/NTSN), alongside other critical standards such as fire safety.
Acting as the primary interface with external certification bodies (NoBo/ApBo), you will proactively manage the entire certification lifecycle, from initial quotations to securing final compliance certification for multiple new or upgraded products each year. This includes leading the development and maintenance of comprehensive compliance documentation, responding to internal and customer queries and supporting the Sales team with expert advice.
As the business’s 'gatekeeper' for industry standards, you will proactively monitor emerging regulations to ensure our products remain compliant and competitive, providing expert guidance to development teams and supporting the broader product roadmap.
Crucially, your impact goes beyond certification as this role offers a unique blend of high‑level certification management and hands‑on product engineering. Highly active in supporting Product Engineering such as contributing to product roadmaps, creating and maintaining required product user documentation, specifying ancillary components and configuration management.
To succeed in the role, you will need to be adaptable, able to leverage your deep technical expertise and gain a highly detailed understanding of our products and a workable understanding of software engineering, electrical and electronic engineering and communications.
This role demands communication and interpersonal skills, as you will confidently and proactively collaborate with teams across the business to understand and deliver solutions to the customer, including Software and Hardware Development teams, Sales, Accounting and Production, as well as external stakeholders across the globe.
The role is primarily based in the Poole office (with some home working possible); however, national and international travel to participate in external meetings, testing or other industry leading activities will be required.
