Job summary

Bridge Oak Care Homes in Thirsk is seeking a dedicated Senior Care Assistant to join Hambleton Grange Care Home. You will lead shifts, deliver compassionate, person-centred care and mentor junior team members, ensuring high standards for residents.

Located in Thirsk, the home provides residential, nursing and dementia care in a supportive setting. The role emphasises teamwork, dignity, and strong relationships with residents, families and professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Senior Care Assistant or similar role.
• Commitment to person-centred care and older adults.
• Willingness to work weekends/bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to residents.
• Support residents with daily living, mobility and wellbeing.
• Promote independence while maintaining dignity and privacy.

• Contribute to induction and ongoing training.

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our team at Hambleton Grange Care Home in Thirsk. Located in the picturesque market town of Thirsk, Hambleton Grange Care Home provides high-quality residential, nursing and dementia care within a welcoming and supportive environment. As a Senior Care Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring residents receive the highest standards of person-centred care whilst acting as a role model and mentor to colleagues.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior Care Assistant, you'll support residents and the wider care team by:

• Delivering high-quality, person-centred care and supporting residents with all aspects of daily living.
• Assisting residents with their physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing.
• Promoting independence while maintaining residents' dignity, privacy and comfort.
• Supporting residents with mobility needs, dementia and other complex care requirements.
• Monitoring residents' wellbeing and reporting any concerns or changes promptly.
• Completing, reviewing and contributing to care plans and ensuring accurate daily record keeping.
• Supervising, supporting and mentoring Care Assistants and new team members.
• Assisting with staff inductions, training and ongoing development.
• Acting as a point of contact for residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and visiting agencies.
• Liaising with GPs, district nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Responding to call bells and supporting residents in a timely and compassionate manner.
• Encouraging participation in activities, hobbies and meaningful engagement opportunities.
• Supporting end-of-life care with dignity, compassion and professionalism.
• Promoting a positive, collaborative and supportive culture within the care team.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who is:

• Caring, compassionate and passionate about improving the lives of older people.
• Experienced in a Senior Care Assistant or similar role within a care environment.
• Confident leading shifts and supporting colleagues.
• Organised, reliable and able to prioritise workloads effectively.
• A strong communicator who can build positive relationships with residents, families and professionals.
• Calm and confident when making decisions and solving problems.
• Flexible and able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
• Committed to delivering the highest standards of care at all times.
• NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or willing to work towards achieving this qualification).
