Job summary

Rota Support Ltd in Suffolk is seeking Senior Care Assistants for ad-hoc, flexible shifts across Woodbridge and surrounding areas. Roles operate on a 0-hours contract, covering gaps in client rotas due to annual leave, maternity leave, sickness and vacancies.

Shifts may arise at short notice or be booked weeks in advance. You will supervise Healthcare Assistants, assist with daily living activities, monitor residents' vital signs, and support with medication administration as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 months experience as a Senior Carer in care homes.
• Good spoken and written English.

• Able to stay calm under pressure and be organised.

Responsibilities

• Carry out large medication rounds and document via EMAR/MAR charts.
• Delegate tasks and lead a team of Healthcare Assistants.
• Assist with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, feeding, toilet).
• Use equipment to assist resident mobility.
• Help tidy residents' homes or rooms.
• Take vital signs such as blood pressure and temperature.
• Talk to residents and provide reassurance.

About the Company

Rota Support LTD specialises in the supply of permanent and temporary Care, Nursing & Support staff into the private healthcare sector, including care homes for the elderly, nursing homes, learning disability and mental health services, as well as private hospitals.

About the Role

We are looking to recruit Senior Care Assistants based in all areas of Suffolk that are looking for ad-hoc, flexible shifts and that are happy to work in Woodbridge, as well as other nearby surrounding areas. These shifts can accumulate into either full time hours or part time hours, but will be offered on a 0 hours contract. The role will include working at different homes covering gaps in our clients rotas due to annual leave, maternity leave, sickness and vacancies. These shifts may arise at short notice due to last minute emergencies, whilst also being booked weeks in advance, depending on the clients needs.

Everyday tasks will consist of the following, but not be limited to;

• Carrying out large medication rounds and documenting/ recording via EMAR systems or MAR charts
• Delegating tasks and leading a team of Healthcare Assistants
• Assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding and using the toilet
• Utilising equipment to move residents when necessary
• Helping tidy the resident's home or room
• Taking the resident's vital signs such as blood pressure and temperature
• Talking to residents and reassuring them

About the Person

A suitable candidate for this position will be somebody that has a minimum of 4 months experience working as a Senior Carer in a care home previously. Somebody that has a good understanding of spoken and written English. Somebody that is compassionate, patient and enjoys helping others. Somebody that can remain calm under pressure and somebody that is organised, efficient and hard-working.

Recent practical training in administering medication would be ideal, but is not essential, as training can be provided if necessary. Please note that the occasional need to fill in as a Healthcare Assistant may also be required.
