Job summary

Magherafelt Manor, part of Healthcare Ireland Group, is a modern care and nursing home in Magherafelt, County Londonderry, providing 24-hour person-centred care for older people. We are seeking a Night Shift Senior Care Assistant to lead and support care teams, assist residents with personal needs, administer medicines, and ensure safety and dignity during a 44-hour week at £13.75 per hour.

Applicants should have medications experience and real care experience; there is progression and training

Qualifications

• Medications experience within care setting.

• GCSE/NVQ 3 or above with a good standard of English.
• Previous care experience.

Magherafelt Manor is a beautiful and modern residential care and nursing home situated in Magherafelt, County Londonderry, providing 24hour, professional and person-centred care for older people, including those living with dementia or in need of general nursing.

The home has the capacity for up to 64 people, across several homely units, decorated and furnished to offer a safe and comfortable home-from-home living environment for residents to enjoy. Magherafelt Manor has excellent amenities, including a café, comfortable lounges and dining spaces, enabling residents to maintain their independence as much as is possible, in the safest possible environment.

All our private, light and spacious bedrooms are fully-furnished, with the benefit of en-suite bathroom facilities. Residents are very welcome to bring their own home accessories and furniture, to personalise their space and make it their home.

We are dedicated to providing quality care for the residents living with dementia and for those who are cared for in their rooms; our whole team approach to wellbeing means that everyone feels part of our lovely, welcoming community.

The Role

The Senior Care Assistant role in our Nursing Homes is part of dedicated team who are essential to the daily operations of the Home. Senior Care Assistants provide high quality care and support to our residents in a warm and safe environment. Senior Care Assistants play a crucial role in the delivery of care, working with the Registered Nurses and Care Assistants, the role of a Senior Care Assistant is to provide leadership, guidance and hands-on assistance to ensure the residents receive personalised care that meets their individual needs and preferences.

Our Senior Care Assistants also provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering meaningful relationships and promoting a sense of compassion; an advocacy for the rights and preferences of our residents.

About The Role

Main Responsibilities

• Providing practical support and responsive care to residents who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation
• Observes and monitors the wellbeing of residents ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
• Monitors and allocates the work for care assistants.
• Develops and maintains a good professional relationship with residents, colleagues and visitors responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.
• Responsible for the administration of medicines
