Bupa’s Hatfield Peverel Care Home in Chelmsford is seeking a Senior Care Assistant to lead a team and deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care. The role covers running a unit, supporting nurses with meds and care plans, and ensuring compassionate daily routines for residents.

You’ll work 44 hours weekly, days and nights, with alternate weekends, in a warm, dementia-friendly setting inspired by Mallard. The vacancy offers permanent employment and a comprehensive benefits package.

Location: Hatfield Peverel Care Home, Chelmsford CM3 2NZ

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 44 hours per week, days and nights available including alternate weekends

Salary: £13.25 - £14.84 per hour depending on experience

Set in nine acres of grounds, the home offers a warm welcome to anyone in need of nursing, residential and dementia care.

The home has a dedicated dementia-friendly house, known as Mallard, where residents are supported by dementia champions. The home's interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, being colour-themed and including memory triggers.

Hatfield Peverel is a lively and welcoming care home at the heart of your local community. The dedicated care team plan a varied programme of activities and social gatherings, which you're welcome to take part in. From flower arranging, baking clubs, tea dances to regional events such as summer fetes and remembrance celebration events, there is always something going on.

Great attention is placed on the food menu to make sure it is both enjoyable and nutritious, made by an experienced chef using fresh produce, while there are snacks and drinks available throughout the day and night. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients. Soon after a resident arrives at Hatfield Peverel, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

You’ll help us make health happen by:

• Day-to-day responsibility for running a unit


• Supporting with clinical duties, including supporting the nurse to observe, issue medication, review care plans and accurate record keeping


• Driving and managing a team of Care Assistants, including responsible for all shift handovers of the teams


• Helping with training and supervision of new staff members so they feel welcomed and supported


• Building relationships with residents, their families and external teams such as GPs and District Nurses


• Assisting residents with a range of personal care duties

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

• You’ll have completed / working towards an NVQ3 in care. We’re more than happy to support you in the completion of your qualification if needed.


• You’re motivated, positive and with great interpersonal skills, and you enjoy working in a close-knit team. You’re pivotal in running a unit, working with the Nurse to aid with clinical duties for the home.


• You have previous experience of the role and knowledge of its rewards and challenges. Just as importantly, you also have a passion for making a real difference to people’s lives, giving them the kindness, personalised support and dignity they need.
