Job summary

Meallmore in Glasgow's West End seeks a dedicated Senior Care Assistant to lead our care team and deliver high-quality, person-centred care for residents.

You will support Registered Nurses, supervise staff, administer medication, and maintain accurate care records while upholding safety, dignity and best practices.

We offer flexible days for full- and part-time roles, a salary of £13.90–£14.50 per hour, and progression through our SVQ pathway and SSSC registration.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a senior care worker in a similar setting is essential.
• Active progress towards SVQ Level 3 or higher is welcomed.
• SSSC registration or active activity to obtain registration is required.
• Strong leadership, compassion and motivation with a person-centred approach.

Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Nurse/Team Leader to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate residents’ care needs.
• Deliver hands-on personal care and lead the care team to maintain high standards.
• Motivate and supervise staff, provide coaching and leadership support.
• Maintain accurate records, including assessments, care plans, reviews and evaluations.
• Administer medication in line with care plans and policies.
• Lead by example to ensure safe practices meeting all standards and legislation.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Senior Care Assistant with Meallmore you will have a vital role in leading our team in our mission to provide high-quality, personalised care and support. You will do this by;

• Supporting the Registered Nurse / Team Leader to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the comprehensive care needs of each resident living in our care home.
• Delivering hands on personal care, leadership and support to provide the highest standards of person-centred care ensuring our residents live their best lives.
• Motivating and supervising the care team, ensuring you have oversight of your team performance, providing coaching, mentoring and leadership support to promote positive change.
• Maintain accurate records of the job you do which will include completing assessments, writing care plans, resident reviews, and evaluations.
• Administering medication.
• Leading by example in setting high standards of care and support, encouraging a positive work environment where practices are safe and meet all relevant standards, policies, and legislation.

What we are looking for:

• Previous experience working as a senior care worker in a similar care setting is essential. We also welcome applications from experienced care workers actively working towards their SVQ Level 3 and looking for your next step up.
• Professional, compassionate, kind and motivated with a sense of fun - you’ll pride yourself on your person-centred, thoughtful approach to care.
• Ability to lead, motivate, inspire and develop a team.
• What’s just as important is that you are organised, flexible in your approach and have great communication and leadership skills.
• Confident in the use of IT applications.
• To be a Senior Care Worker you will be registered as a supervisor with the Scottish Social Services Council, within the necessary time frame.
• You will already have or be on a journey to obtain the qualifications required for your SSSC registration:Practice and supervisory qualification/s SVQ level 3 or higher, or its equivalent in Social Services & Healthcare.
