Job description
Night Senior Care Assistant – HC One

Please note this role is a Night Senior Care Assistant.

As a Senior Care Assistant at HC One, kindness will be at the core of everything you do. It touches upon all areas of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Specialist care homes. Every team member understands that our residents are people with their own stories, and by joining us you will have a wonderful opportunity to give something back to those people.

For you, that will mean planning and implementing care that gives residents a real sense of security, dignity and independence. You will get to know our residents and their families, helping to ensure we deliver truly personalised care plans. Leading a team of Care Assistants, you will maintain the highest standards of care and influence the rest of the team. Whether you are showing someone how to use a walking frame, supporting someone at the end of life to eat a meal, or talking to a resident’s family on the phone, you will do so with kindness as the guiding principle.

Assisting the Registered Nurse and Care Manager, you will be involved in providing essential physical and mental stimulation through a range of social and recreational activities, as well as administering medication. One of your key responsibilities is to maintain accurate records of the work you do and build strong relationships with your team.

Qualifications and experience

Ideally, you will have completed a Level 2 Diploma in Adult Social Care and be prepared to work towards Level 3 qualification in Adult Social Care or equivalent. A background in person-centred care planning and knowledge of caring for people with dementia is desirable. What’s essential is your positive energy and ability to get along with people. You will know what good record keeping looks like, manage your time effectively, and communicate with residents and co-workers with thoughtfulness and kindness.

About HC-One

At HC-One, kindness is more than a word. It is a belief that caring for people means caring about what matters most to them, so we can support them to lead their best possible life.

To provide the kindest possible care there are five qualities that everyone who is part of the HC-One team shows up with, supports and coaches in each other every day. We call these five qualities Kindness the HC-One Way: we are curious, compassionate, creative yet practical, courageous in how we support residents to live the life they want, and we can always be counted on.

We champion inclusivity, fostering a workplace where everyone feels valued and can be themselves. Our diverse and inclusive workforce allows us to learn from each other and better represent the communities we serve.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. It is important that you can recognise signs of possible abuse, harm or neglect in its different forms and know what to do if there are concerns. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to undertake additional training in related areas. You also have the ability to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.

Benefits and development

We’ll provide full training, so it’s a great opportunity to learn something new. You will enjoy a wide range of benefits and services to support your physical and psychological well-being, and we will invest in you as you progress as a Senior Care Assistant. Benefits include:

  • Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
  • Hourly rate is subject to experience and qualifications
  • Free uniform
  • During a shift of eight hours or more a nutritious meal will be available
  • Company pension scheme
  • 26 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays (note: the original text says 28; kept consistent with source would be 28)
  • Group life assurance cover
  • Wagestream - financial wellbeing and flexible access to pay as you need it
  • Award-winning learning and development and support to achieve qualifications
  • GP online - around-the-clock GP consultation via an interactive app (for you and your children under 16)
  • Opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues as part of an outstanding and committed team
  • Colleague discounts - access to over 1600 high street discounts
  • Wellbeing - access to an independent Employee Assistance Programme
  • Excellent recognition schemes such as Kindness in Care and Long Service Awards
  • Refer a friend scheme of up to £1000 per referral (depending on the role)

We are committed to ensuring our current and future colleagues can be their true selves. We prioritise inclusive working practices and invite applicants from all backgrounds. We aim for a quick turnaround from job offer to start date.
