Job summary

Medical Update Online is seeking a Senior Care Assistant to lead care staff in our older adults homes. You will supervise shifts, support daily living activities and tailor care plans to individual needs, ensuring residents’ wellbeing and safety at all times.

We provide training to achieve NVQ Level 3 and promote professional growth within a supportive team. Weekend and night shifts with enhanced pay are included, along with employee assistance and a pension scheme.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) is required or in progress.
• Experience in health, social care, or teaching supporting adults or children is preferred.
• Strong motivation to learn and deliver high quality care.
• Leadership skills to guide and support team members.
• Respect, patience and compassion in daily resident interactions.

What you'll do

• Provide effective leadership: Motivate, train and support care staff through supervision and feedback, leading shifts, care practice monitoring and role modelling excellent standards.
• Support daily living: Help with daily activities including personal care and administering medication, ensuring the comfort, wellbeing and safety of our residents during the day or at night
• Person-centred care: Tailor your care planning to meet the unique needs of each resident.
• Build relationships: Establish supportive connections with residents, their families, and colleagues.

What we're looking for

You may already have experience of working with older adults in a residential or nursing setting, but it's not essential - we provide all the training you need to be a great Senior Care Assistant. What's more important to us is that you have the right values, skills and motivations to provide high quality care.

• Qualification: Hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent qualification). Alternatively, you may be working towards this currently, or be willing to work towards this once in the role.
• Proven track record: Experience of successfully working with, or supporting adults or children. This could be in a range of environments including health, social care or teaching.
• Passion and dedication: A genuine desire to help others and make a positive and lasting difference to their lives.
• Self-motivation: Committed to learn and continually develop yourself to deliver the best possible care to our residents.
• Leadership skills: Lead, motivate and support colleagues using your knowledge and expertise to role model excellent standards of care.
• Respect, patience and compassion: Understand and share the feelings of others to build trust and provide emotional support. Treat residents with dignity and adapt to their individual needs.
• Communication skills: Clear and effective communication with residents, families, and colleagues.
• Problem-solving skills: Handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.

This role involves some weekend and bank holidays working, for which enhancements are paid in line with the HCC salary policy. Applicants for the Senior Night Care Assistant position will also be required to work night shifts, which attract additional enhancements in line with the same policy.
