A leading healthcare provider in London is seeking a Senior Capital Projects Manager to oversee high-quality capital project delivery. The successful candidate will manage complex projects, provide specialist advice, and ensure statutory compliance. A minimum of five years' experience in project management, preferably within the NHS, is essential. This role encompasses project planning and governance, contributing positively to patient care and the work environment.

The post holder will be a key member of the Project Team and will have an important role in ensuring delivery of a high quality capital project. They will be professionally accountable for estates project construction and implementation of delegated Schemes within the Trust's Investment Programme to improve the environment for patients and staff.
The post holder is the lead specialist responsible for long‑term planning, preparing and managing the Estates capital project under the Our Capital Project Programme at various stages from writing, briefing to completion of the Business Case process. Their objective is to ensure that these are completed efficiently and effectively, within programme timeframes, and to provide the highest possible standards of Business Case delivery within the resources allocated, ensuring statutory compliance.
The post holder is responsible for the management of capital projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, to the required quality and improving the patient's environment. This includes project planning to deliver Business Case requirements and deliverables within overall programme timeframes. Compliance with programme governance and processes is also essential.
Work as a specialist professional as part of the Estates Department.
Provide expert specialist and professional construction and estates project advice to other Estates staff, Directors, Senior Management, Trust Boards and external agencies.
Independently manage a portfolio of complicated delegated projects from inception to completion, including full project management, design, costs, contract administration, site supervision and commissioning under the Trust Capital Programme.
Appoint and manage external professional consultants within an authorised budget as a Budget Holder.
Manage Estates Capital Budgets, professional services, contractor works and physical assets as part of the Trust Capital Programme.
Be responsible for producing and implementing a number of department processes and procedures.
Support and deputise for Senior Managers within the Estates Department as and when required.
Be responsible for the operational commissioning of health buildings.
Provide guidance and leadership to Trainee Project Managers.
Provide cover for colleagues as appropriate and delegate for the Capital Manager as and when required and during periods of absence.

Ensure that project structures are established with project roles and responsibilities defined and that these arrangements are documented with appropriate governance in place, including project initiation documents and risk assessments throughout the planning, design, tendering, reporting, approval, construction, commissioning and post‑completion stages.
Co‑ordinate mechanical, electrical and other specialist disciplines, advise Trust staff on the technical and financial viability of capital works, including identifying user requirements, development of design brief and ensuring that the design solution reflects the Trust’s strategic objectives.
Work together with senior clinicians, nursing, infection control, procurement, patient user groups and staff to ensure all concerned are actively involved in design options for projects in order to deliver high quality, effective and efficient patient care demonstrating best practice and value for money.
Manage project design and specification of schemes in a multi‑discipline environment from initial brief to handover, including brief, costs, room data sheets, CAD drawings, BIM, schedules of work, outline and detailed design, planning and building regulation applications, tender documentation, contracts, construction, on‑site supervision, commissioning, acceptance of works and handover to operations team.
