Job summary

Aston Martin Formula One is seeking a Senior CAD Process and Development Engineer to shape the CAD strategy, oversee tool development, and drive digital transformation in a high-performance race environment.

You will collaborate with the CAD Process and Development Group, PLM and Design teams to implement new workflows, maintain regulatory assemblies, and mentor engineers across the design spectrum.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or related STEM discipline.
• Experience leading CAD/design tool development programmes in Formula One or high-level motorsport environments.
• Strong knowledge of race car design and CAD tools, especially CATIA.
• Strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Good understanding of FIA technical regulations.

Responsibilities

• Support the CAD strategy development in collaboration with the CAD Process and Development Group, aligning with engineering goals.
• Manage client-side CAD activities: configuration, customisation, implementation and user support.
• Drive end-to-end design process improvements to boost workflow, consistency and productivity.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on CAD tools and deploy new functionalities.
• Collaborate with PLM to prioritise CAD development for maximum performance impact.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary groups focused on improving design systems and methodologies.
• Maintain and update regulatory CAD assemblies with Design groups.
• Build strong relationships with Design engineers to identify bottlenecks and solutions.
• Support user acceptance testing for CAD and digital engineering installations and upgrades.
• Deliver training for new starters on CAD tools and maintain clear documentation.
• Benchmark, evaluate and implement new tools or processes that add value to design workflows.
