Job summary

Solid Talent is seeking a C#/.NET developer with SolidWorks API and design automation expertise for a hybrid role across multiple UK locations. The successful candidate will lead automation initiatives within DAC and expand the team over the next 12 months.

You will work with engineering, design and manufacturing teams to deliver API‑driven solutions, automate workflows, and build scalable tools in a fast‑growing sector focused on Modern Methods of Construction.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands‑on software development experience with C#, .NET and the .NET Framework (or equivalent OO language)
  • Proven API development experience with SolidWorks API and DriveWorks
  • Background in database design and SQL with data modelling aptitude
  • Experience integrating CAD tools with PLM/ERP and cloud environments

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain custom SolidWorks add-ins, DriveWorks tools, macros, and API‑driven automation using C#
  • Automate design workflows including 3D modelling, dynamic drawing generation, and automated BOM creation
  • Build robust desktop applications and scalable engineering tools using .NET/C# to reduce manual effort
  • Integrate CAD tools with PLM, ERP and relational databases; manage engineering data for scalable configurations
  • Collaborate with engineering, design and manufacturing teams to translate requirements into software solutions
  • Address performance, API and workflow issues across engineering applications and mentor junior developers

Salary - From £50,000 DOE+ Car Allowance or Company Car

Are you a C#/.NET developer with expertise in SolidWorks API and design automation?

Join a prestigious industry leader in construction innovation and technology solutions, dedicated to shaping the future of the sector through advanced software, automation, and Modern Methods of Construction developing smarter, more efficient ways to design, configure, and deliver complex engineering projects nationwide.

To drive growth, they’re looking to scale their Design Automation & Configuration (DAC) capabilities across the organisation. Building on high-impact solutions already proven within the business. They’re are seeking an immediate hire to lead these efforts. Looking ahead, you will play a key role in expanding this dedicated team by 3 to 4 additional developers over the next 12 months.

Responsibilities, but are not limited to
  • Develop and maintain custom SolidWorks add-ins, Driveworks tools, macros, and API-driven automation solutions using C#
  • Automate design workflows, including 3D modelling, dynamic drawing generation, and automated Bill of Materials (BOM) creation
  • Build custom plugins, robust desktop applications, and scalable engineering tools using .NET and C# to minimize manual effort and improve consistency
  • Seamlessly integrate CAD tools with PLM, ERP, relational databases (SQL), and cloud environments
  • Structure and manage engineering data to support scalable product configuration and computational workflows
  • Partner closely with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to translate complex technical requirements into high-performing software solutions
  • Resolve performance, API, and automation workflow issues across custom engineering applications
  • Maintain technical documentation, contribute to development best practices, and mentor junior developers as the team scales
  • Explore and incorporate AI-assisted development tools to enhance overall engineering productivity
Experiences required
  • Strong hands‑on software development experience with C#, .NET, and .NET Framework (or equivalent Object-Oriented background in Java, C++, VB.NET, or TypeScript, provided there is a desire to focus primarily on C#)
  • Familiarity with scripting or legacy automation languages such as VBA, Python, or PowerShell
  • Proven track record using the SolidWorks API and Driveworks (or deep API development experience with closely related CAD/AEC platforms such as Autodesk Inventor API, Autodesk Revit API, AutoCAD ObjectARX/.NET, or CATIA Automation)
  • Solid background in database design and management (SQL or similar relational databases) with strong data modelling aptitude
  • Practical understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), software design patterns, and overall application architecture
  • Background developing software tailored for Engineering, AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction), or Manufacturing environments
  • Understanding of standard engineering drawings, 3D modelling, and core manufacturing concepts
