Fieldwork Robotics is seeking a Senior C++ Software Engineer to develop core robot control software for autonomous raspberry-picking robots. You will join cross-functional teams at the Cambridge HQ, contributing to perception, planning, and real-time control in production environments.

The role emphasizes modern C++, ROS2, ROS2 Control, and integration of vision/ML outputs with hardware, aiming to improve reliability, speed, and yield on real farms.

Qualifications

• Proficient in modern C++ in production systems.
• Experience with ROS2 and ROS2 Control on real robotic platforms.
• Familiar with Docker/containerised deployment and CI/CD pipelines.
• Background in perception outputs (vision/ML) for robotics.
• Strong math foundations supporting control and planning.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance C++20 software for autonomous raspberry-picking robots.
• Build robot control systems using ROS2 ROS2 Control with hardware interfaces.
• Integrate perception outputs from vision/ML into robot behaviour.
• Implement planning, tracking, and obstacle avoidance in cluttered environments.
• Develop diagnostics, metrics and tooling to improve reliability and yield.
