Job summary

Ripple is seeking an experienced Contract C++ Software Engineer to maintain and enhance a large Windows-based control software platform used on scientific instruments. The role is inside IR35 with a day rate of £525–£550, initially for 6 months, and hybrid working requiring 2–3 onsite days per week in Cambridge.

You will tackle debugging across a broad C++ codebase, improve functionality, and collaborate with cross-site teams in the UK and Europe, while following Agile practices and using Visual

Qualifications

Extensive commercial C++ development experience, including modern C++ (C++17/20).
Strong Windows platform development with Visual Studio.
Proven debugging of large, complex or legacy codebases.
Knowledge of software design patterns and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

Investigate, debug and resolve issues across a large existing C++ codebase, covering hardware control and UI code.
Maintain and improve existing functionality to keep software robust and reliable.
Collaborate with applications specialists and engineering to diagnose and fix customer/system issues.
Maintain software documentation, change control and version tracking standards.
Work in an Agile environment using Visual Studio, Git and Azure DevOps.
