Ideal candidates will have strong purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment and excellent leadership skills, alongside a technical qualification. Qualifications

Senior Buyer – Team Leader
Location: Bristol
Circa £48,000 + Benefits: Private healthcare, share incentive plan, 25 days annual leave, half‑day Fridays, defined contribution pension, on‑site canteen with subsidised meals, flexible benefits package.
Work hours: Monday to Friday, early finish on Fridays.

Responsibilities
  • Manage approved suppliers and implement commercial solutions for parts and assemblies.
  • Lead and develop a team of buyers, setting objectives and monitoring performance.
  • Collaborate with planning to ensure materials meet production schedules.
  • Support supplier management through agreements, scorecards, visits, and business reviews.
  • Place orders, balancing cost, lead time, quality and inventory targets.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and supply‑chain risk reduction.
  • Assist with tasks such as invoice queries, return‑to‑vendor stock, FAI’s, cost updates and spot purchases.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in purchasing within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong leadership and team‑management skills.
  • Confident using ERP/MRP systems (E1, SAP, Oracle) and Excel for data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of complex manufacturing supply chains.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Technically minded with a practical understanding of production and supplier challenges.
  • Innovative and proactive in problem‑solving.
  • Technical qualification (HNC/HND or Degree) and CIPS Level 4 (or equivalent experience) desirable.
