Job summary

Cala Homes is seeking a Regional Materials Buyer to oversee procurement across the region. You will prepare schedules, tender materials, and secure approvals before purchasing, ensuring timely delivery to site teams and adherence to the Sitestream process.

The role requires experience in house-building procurement, strong supplier management, and MS Office proficiency. You will work closely with site teams and lead process improvements across the region.

Qualifications

  • Experience with procurement in a construction/house-building context.
  • Ability to prepare schedules and tender materials.
  • Understanding of health and safety related to material procurement.
  • Strong governance around quotations and supplier selection.

  • Place orders in line with Sitestream process and timelines.
  • Ensure purchase packs and information reach site teams promptly.

Job description

Reporting to the Regional Commercial Director, you will be responsible for all material purchasing functions within the region, ensuring the smooth operation of quality systems across all materials purchasing activities.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Preparation of schedules
  • Competitively tender all relevant materials to be purchased by the region and analyse quotes
  • Gain authorisation for completed comparison prior to order placement
  • Place order in accordance with the Sitestream process
  • Ensure purchase information and purchase orders packs are produced and delivered to the site teams in a timely fashion to meet current programmes
  • Manage site queries and invoice queries on a regular basis
  • Attend site meetings where required and assist with the smooth running of the sites in relation to material procurement
  • Increase the material supply network to identify product innovations, potential cost savings and improvements in site services
  • Ensure s ite operatives and managers are made aware of best practice for the handling and storage of materials
  • Manage and coach other members of the buying team within the region
  • Provide advice and guidance to other regional buyers where required
  • Attend Buying Forums to help guide Group Buying Procedures towards a common approach
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of buying procedures across the business
  • Support the development of Group material specifications
About You

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • An awareness of the legal implications of buying
  • Understanding of health and safety issues relating to material procurement
  • Experience of working in the house building industry
  • Sound technical and building processes knowledge
  • High level of proficiency in various computer packages including MS Office Products - Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Self-motivated and pro-active with the ability to act on own initiative
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage time to meet deadlines
  • Effective at building relationships
  • Proficient at managing people
