Job description

We’re recruiting a Senior Buyer for a leading company designing and manufacturing advanced underwater systems, including Work Class and Observation ROVs, Trenchers, and Submarine Rescue Systems. Part of a global organisation, their products are renowned worldwide for reliability, performance, and technical excellence.

Purpose

Purchase goods and services at the best price and quality, meeting company standards and timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full purchasing cycle: requisition → order → delivery → issue resolution
  • Build strong supplier relationships to improve quality, cost, delivery, and safety
  • Conduct market analysis and negotiate terms to optimise competitiveness and cash flow
  • Ensure timely purchase orders and delivery from designated suppliers
  • Handle ad-hoc quotations and internal requests
  • Resolve invoice queries promptly to support cash flow
  • Maintain department filing, housekeeping, and clerical tasks
  • Produce reports as requested and follow safe working practices
Requirements
  • Education/Skills: Maths, English, IT skills, confident with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience: 5+ years purchasing in a manufacturing or engineering environment; MRP experience preferred
  • Technical/Key Skills: Understanding of technical drawings, negotiation skills, detail-oriented, flexible, able to work under pressure, team player
QHSE
  • Take responsibility for safe and environmentally sound practices
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions to management
