The contractoor is a leading civil engineering and infrastructure specialist delivering complex projects across the UK. They are currently looking for a Senior Buyer (Subcontractors & Materials) to join our team in Preston, supporting a range of high-profile infrastructure and marine projects.

The Role

As a Senior Buyer, you ll play a key role in the procurement and commercial delivery of subcontract and material packages. You ll be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring best value across all purchasing activity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead procurement of subcontract and material packages from enquiry to final agreement.
• Manage supplier and subcontractor performance to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met.
• Negotiate terms and agreements in line with company and project requirements.
• Support project teams in cost planning, forecasting, and supply chain management.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and value engineering initiatives across the business.

About You

• Proven experience in a Buyer or Senior Buyer role within construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of subcontract procurement and material purchasing processes.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Commercially astute with attention to detail and cost control.
• CIPS qualification (or working towards) desirable.
