Senior Buyer

We have a position available for a Senior Buyer to join our commercial team in Letchworth, ensuring the effective and timely procurement and delivery of the correct materials to achieve the build programme and specification.

What you'll be doing

Receive or, if necessary, take off own material schedules to produce purchase orders. Obtain quotations and designs from selected suppliers. Compare quotations and negotiate the most favourable rates and terms for the business needs. Discuss key comparisons and those over £75k with the Materials Manager. Place orders with suppliers at agreed term rates, in conjunction and ahead of the site programme so as not to impede production.

Skills & knowledge you'll bring
  • Business Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain qualification or CIPS equivalent
  • Proven experience (5 years +) as a Senior Buyer or in a similar role for a residential house builder.
  • Demonstrable understanding of cost management, the price of housing products, general construction and how materials fit into dwellings.
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships with suppliers and a good network of contacts.
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent IT and numerical skills
  • Able to use Microsoft packages and familiarity using Excel and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
Why join Croudace?

At Croudace Homes, we believe our people are our greatest asset – and we're committed to rewarding and supporting them. In return for your skills and dedication, you'll receive a competitive package that includes (role dependant):

  • Generous Pension Scheme with up to 10% employer contribution
  • Discretionary bonus to recognise your performance and contribution
