Job description

Skanska, one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups, is an inclusive and responsible business that is helping to build a better society.

We are looking for a Senior Buyer to join our infrastructure team in Kent, supporting Skanska’s role as National Highways’ delivery partner for the Lower Thames Crossing South – Kent Roads scheme. In this role, you’ll negotiate and place orders against operational requisitions, oversee all contractual documentation, and maintain order logs.

What you'll do:
  • Minimise the cost of plant and materials and services to Skanska whilst supporting the need for a safe and sustainable supply chain.
  • Use Skanska’s Oracle ERP system to place orders, manage tenders and run reports.
  • Negotiate and meet with suppliers and work to project and bid timelines.
  • Management and development of others including buyers and procurement administrators.
  • Support the business in use of framework agreements and supply chain performance reviews.
What you'll bring to the role:
  • Degree level education or qualified by experience.
  • Membership of professional body (RICS, CIPS) or working towards.
  • Experience of procurement in the construction industry, including main forms of contract (NEC, JCT, CECA (ICE)).
  • Experience of negotiating with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Experience of using Office 365 software, specifically MS Excel and multiple purchasing systems.
