Job summary

A global consultancy firm in the UK is seeking a Business Analyst specializing in digital transformation, particularly within the Rail sector. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, have experience in Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies, and be proficient with data analytics tools such as Power BI and SQL. The role includes advising clients on processes, collaborating with project managers, and identifying opportunities for improvement. Flexibility for travel is required as the position involves supporting project delivery across the UK.

Job description

Assisting the team of Analysts & Consultants on a range of tasks, to include:

  • Advise clients on best practice Business Analysis methodologies
  • Documenting, analysing and agreeing the As-Is state and identifying To-Be processes
  • Managing data capture and document validation regarding a variety of projects, processes and operations
  • Supporting Data Analysts in the production of systems and models
  • Analysis of model output, producing reports and commentary
  • Supporting and adapting client's use of model outputs for decision making
  • Supporting and testing technical solution outputs to BAU services
  • Develop detailed functional and non-functional specifications
  • Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to design and implement digital solutions
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and digital innovation
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
Other responsibilities
  • Supporting the growth of the Digital Business Analysis service offering by preparing presentations and other materials for client pitches, internal and external comms. Inputting key information into the Turner & Townsend internal database tools, e.g. opportunity tracking, invoicing. Please note training will be provided on these.
  • Supporting junior Business Analyst's career growth, with coaching and line management opportunities if desired.
  • Act as a liaison between client business units and IT teams to ensure digital solutions meet business needs.
  • Support, guide and advise on the digital transformation initiatives within the rail sector.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with an ability to adapt to and embed into different client environments. This includes identification and communication with key stakeholders and liaison between business departments and groups.
  • Candidates will be expected to engage with clients and be comfortable in leading workshops, assess options for process improvement including process modelling, and familiarity with the requirements management lifecycle to enable successful delivery of technical solutions.
  • Experience of working in Agile and/or Waterfall project development teams is required.
  • Experience of public sector digital transformation is desirable, including the ability to gather, review and analyse business and/or industry data including KPIs, financial reports and other key metrics using data analytics tools.
  • An understanding of technical solution capabilities, including use of the following platforms is desired: Power BI, SQL, Power Platform, SharePoint, and MS Projects. The candidate should be comfortable working alongside technical developer teams, with an ability to elicit and translate technical requirements from non-technical stakeholders to a team of data specialists.
  • Previous experience in the Rail sector is highly desirable.

Turner & Townsend's Digital and consultancy business unit are looking for a suitable candidate to join their team, with a particular focus in (but not limited to) the Rail sector. The team offers a wide range of commissions covering the UK. Candidates would be expected to travel up to 2-3 days per week supporting the delivery of the commissions.
