Job description

Location: London, Bristol or Manchester / Occasional travel to London will be required for team meetings, away days etc, twice a month. Expenses paid if travelling from base location to London

Contract: 6 months initially

Rate: £600 - £650 (Inside IR35)

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join the Cyber Services Team within a government department. This is a high-impact role supporting the delivery of the Cyber Security Strategy, helping departments across central government improve their cyber resilience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with public sector organisations to define and improve cyber security services.
  • Analyse and model current cyber-related processes, systems, and data—particularly around vulnerability management.
  • Evaluate whether cyber activities add measurable value to the business.
  • Translate technical cyber risks into business value and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cyber specialists, service owners, and delivery teams to drive sustainable improvements.
  • Work with User Researchers and Service Designers to ensure services meet user needs.
  • Operate autonomously in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience working on cyber security projects in central government or the wider public sector.
  • Strong understanding of the cyber security landscape, including risk, resilience, and capability uplift.
  • Ability to convert technical risk into value for money and articulate ROI.
  • Skilled in business process improvement, modelling, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and driving progress independently.
  • Experience influencing cyber specialists to adopt sustainable, value-driven practices.
  • Minimum 4-5 years in a senior business analysis role.
Bonus Points For
  • Experience with GDS standards and the Service Manual.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management, cyber testing, or incident response.
  • Strong planning, communication, and influencing skills.
