Job summary

Headland Archaeology invites an experienced Principal-level archaeologist to lead Historic Building Recording and Built Heritage projects in the UK. You will oversee investigation, analysis, reporting and publication, mentoring colleagues and shaping service development.

The role requires liaising with clients, conservation officers and other stakeholders, and delivering high-quality outputs. The successful candidate will contribute to major heritage projects within Headland and the wider RSK

Qualifications

  • Formal training in architectural history, archaeology, or related field.
  • Significant experience in historic building recording and built heritage projects.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage budgets and client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Historic Building Recording and Built Heritage projects from scoping to publication.
  • Interpret historic buildings using fabric, archival and documentary evidence.
  • Prepare and review Written Schemes of Investigation and project designs.
