Job summary

Blue Recruitment Personnel Ltd in Beckenham, London, is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to lead surveying services across refurbishment, major works and contract administration. You will mentor junior staff and strengthen client relationships while delivering high-quality technical advice.

The role covers residential, commercial and public sector projects, with focus on sustainability, safety and compliance under JCT contracts.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Building Surveying.
• Background in the public sector and social housing projects.
• Experience as Contract Administrator on major works and refurbishment.
• Advanced knowledge of JCT contracts and contract administration procedures.
• Strong refurbishment knowledge (roofs, windows, concrete/brickwork) and kitchen/bathroom programmes.
• Experience across residential, commercial, education, leisure, or retail sectors.
• Strong understanding of sustainability and retrofit solutions.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
• Highly organised with strong project management and leadership ability.
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and surveying software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of surveying and contract administration services across refurbishment and major works projects.
• Undertake detailed building surveys and prepare feasibility studies and technical advice for clients.
• Prepare and review specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation under JCT contracts.
• Act as Contract Administrator on complex projects, managing instructions, variations, provisional sums, defects, and certificates.
• Chair project meetings, manage stakeholder communications, and produce detailed progress reports.
• Coordinate site inspectors and specialist consultants as required.
• Maintain strong client relationships and act as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior surveyors and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
• Support business development activity and the continued growth of the service line.
