The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to join our dynamic and growing team in Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to take a leading role in a diverse range of projects across the commercial, education, heritage, healthcare, and industrial sectors.

You will be instrumental in delivering high‑quality surveying services, managing refurbishment and construction projects, and developing client relationships. This role offers autonomy, career progression, and the chance to shape your own workflow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage building refurbishment and repair projects from inception to completion.
  • Conduct detailed building surveys, condition reports, and building pathology assessments.
  • Prepare and negotiate schedules of dilapidations and party wall matters.
  • Provide expert advice on building defects, remedial works, and maintenance strategies.
  • Supervise works on site, ensuring compliance with specifications, health & safety, and quality standards.
  • Prepare specifications, tender documents, and contract administration under JCT/NEC forms.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, bringing your own contacts and workflow where possible.
  • Mentor junior surveyors and contribute to team development.
Qualifications & Experience
  • MRICS qualified (essential).
  • Minimum 5 years’ post‑qualification experience in a consultancy or client‑side role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building construction, refurbishment, and pathology.
  • Proven experience in site supervision and contract administration.
  • Experience in dilapidations, defect diagnosis, and project delivery.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and client‑facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
  • A network of client contacts or ability to generate new business is highly desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence.
