Overview

AtkinsRéalis has a vacancy for a Senior Building Surveyor to work in a multi‑disciplinary environment delivering a full suite of Building Surveying duties. The role will be based in our Epsom office with opportunities to work from London (Nova North) or from home. This role offers varied and interesting work with a number of high‑profile public and private sector clients.

It is an excellent prospect for an individual who enjoys working collaboratively within a vibrant team, has experience managing client relationships, and enjoys variety across all areas of Building Surveying. The role requires strong commercial awareness, the ability to inspire clients, and mentor junior colleagues through client relationship and communication skills.

For a Chartered Building Surveyor with post‑qualification experience this position offers the opportunity to develop a career within a forward‑thinking organisation and fast‑track to Associate level for the right candidate.

Your Role
  • Work across a number of projects in different sectors, managing and providing a range of Building Surveying / project management duties.
  • Assist with the development of new and repeat business across all sectors and manage client relationships and service delivery on a project‑by‑project basis.
  • Use and apply standard forms of building contracts, such as JCT and NEC, keeping abreast of industry issues and best practice developments.
  • Deliver commissions under framework agreements and conduct defect analysis, undertake building surveys and produce professional reports and specifications.
  • Have experience in sectors that include education, local authorities, health care, central government, and infrastructure projects.
  • Understand the principles of quality, health, safety and the environment within the management of projects.
  • Contribute to the growth of AtkinsRéalis by identifying and developing real fee‑earning opportunities.
Supporting the Senior Managers
  • Project management and contract administration duties for larger projects, including due diligence, condition and measured surveys.
  • Design and lead small to medium‑sized construction projects and professional services such as Party Walls, asset management, statutory applications.
About You
  • BSc (Hon's) Building Surveying, RICS Accredited degree and full member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Demonstrate good all‑round surveying experience.
  • Experience of both pre‑ and post‑contract project management responsibilities, able to deliver this service effectively to clients and be prepared to travel as required.
  • Ability to liaise with senior colleagues to build a profitable service and a positive, high‑performing team environment.
  • Strong IT skills – Word and Excel at minimum, with the ability to produce, edit and format documents.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and NBS; experience with Revit and an understanding of BIM level 2 is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage and develop team members, including mentoring APC graduates, and experience managing clients and their expectations.
  • Comply with all legal, professional and corporate compliances for all work carried out.
