We're looking for a Senior Bioprocess Specialist to join our awesome team.

You will join our Production team in London, operating mammalian tissue culture systems to support the production of cultivated fat. You will implement novel protocols and technologies to drive our progress towards large-scale manufacturing, working alongside brilliant engineers, biologists, and mathematicians.

As a Senior Bioprocess Specialist, you will work within our Production team and be the key hands-on specialist running pilot scale bioreactor operations, supporting scale-up and process validation. Over time you will transition into a key role for routine production at the next manufacturing scale. Your diligence, talent for collaboration, and reliability will make you an essential member of our team.

What you’ll do
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain our in-house-built pilot-scale bioreactors, including set-up, inoculation, sampling, harvest, CIP/SIP, cleaning, and shutdown procedures.

  • Execute standard operating procedures (SOPs), batch records, and other documentation, ensuring full compliance with quality and safety standards.

  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues in real time, including sensor faults, flow disruptions, in-process monitoring deviations, and contamination events; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to maintain bioreactor performance and product quality.

  • Support scale-up efforts by assisting in the transfer of pilot-scale protocols and lessons learned into the next-scale bioreactor design and validation.

  • Train junior technicians and operators on bioreactor protocols, safety, and SOPs.

What we’re looking for
  • A master's degree (or equivalent experience) in biotechnology, biochemical engineering, bioprocess engineering, or related life sciences / engineering field

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with microbial or mammalian bioreactors in pilot / lab / manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated ability in leading cell culture operations in a production environment

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills: experience diagnosing and resolving bioprocess upsets

  • Excellent aseptic technique in biosafety cabinets

  • Experience with control systems (e.g. SCADA, distributed control systems, PLC/HMI) and process automation

  • Good analytical skills: experience sampling, performing assays, interpreting process data

  • Experience following and writing SOPs, GMP / GLP documentation practices, batch record and deviation reporting

  • A talent for teamwork and collaboration

Bonus points for experience with:
  • Experience with large scale culture media preparation (+100 L scale)

  • Experience with downstream processing methods

  • Project management tools

  • Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) software

Why join us?
  • We're tackling real-world problems through cutting‑edge bioreactor technology and sustainable solutions. Join us, and you won’t just be doing a job—you’ll be shaping the future of food and biotech sustainability.

  • Combine deep bioreactor work with troubleshooting skills to meet ambitious scale-up goals in a brand new industry.

  • Work with expert bioprocess scale‑up, production, hardware team and software teams to implement a novel bioreactor platform for food and biotech. We don’t just work together—we grow together.

  • Join a fast‑paced startup culture that values collaboration, integrity, and shared success.
