Convatec is expanding its Applied Research team in Manchester to deliver cutting-edge biocompatibility evaluations for medical devices. The Senior Biocompatibility Specialist will lead studies within NPD, LCM and Research, collaborating with project teams and external laboratories.

The role requires a BS in a relevant field, with MS/PhD preferred, and at least 5 years of biocompatibility experience, including ISO 10993 knowledge.

Formación

• BS in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology, Molecular Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Materials Science or Toxicology.
• MS or PhD preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver biological evaluations of new and existing devices with project teams
• Evaluate projects and execute biocompatibility studies conducted by external laboratories
• Derisk new medical devices and research projects early in development
• Develop or revise biological evaluation protocols, reports, and regulatory summaries
• Analyze and interpret extractable and leachable, chemical characterization and biological evaluation data
• Communicate effectively to expert and non-expert audiences

Convatec is entering an exciting new phase of its R&D journey with plans to establish a new state-of-the-art facility in Manchester, located within the Citylabs SciTech campus.

As part of Convatec's Applied Research organization within the Biomedical Sciences team, the Senior Biocompatibility Specialist is responsible for execution of biocompatibility projects for New Product Development (NPD), Life Cycle Management (LCM) and Research.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver biological evaluations of new and existing devices with project teams
• Evaluate projects and execute biocompatibility studies conducted by external laboratories
• Derisk new medical devices and research projects early in development
• Develop or revise biological evaluation protocols, reports, and regulatory summaries
• Analyze and interpret extractable and leachable, chemical characterization and biological evaluation data

Qualifications

BS in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology, Molecular Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Materials Science or Toxicology; MS or PhD preferred.

Experience

5+ years in biocompatibility evaluations and/or toxicological risk assessment of medical devices, with strong knowledge of the ISO 10993 standards.

Work Pattern

Hybrid working, around 1 day a week in the office once the site opens, with up to 20% travel and occasional work outside UK office hours.
