We're recruiting a Senior Bid Manager in the Midlands to lead high-profile, multi-sector tenders within one of the UK's most awarded Tier 1 construction main contractors based out of either their Nottingham or Birmingham office. This is a full-time, permanent role offering genuine strategic impact, competitive remuneration and the chance to shape major bids worth up to £40m across healthcare, education, residential, and commercial sectors.

Role

As a Senior Bid Manager in the Midlands, you will lead the end-to-end development of strategic tenders across multiple sectors, reporting at a senior level within the bidding function. Working closely with the Submissions Manager, Preconstruction team and Bid Writers, you'll manage the complete bid lifecycle from PQQ qualification through to post-bid review, ensuring submissions are innovative, fully compliant and commercially competitive.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the full bidding process, developing high-quality, innovative and winning tender submissions across multi-sector projects
  • Attend and hold PQQ and bid strategy meetings
  • Guide multidisciplinary teams through tender development, ensuring compliance with client requirements and commercial competitiveness
  • Develop and communicate the company's bid proposition, ensuring consistent messaging and differentiation across tenders
  • Manage bid resources across departments, identifying and coordinating expertise required for live tenders and proposals
  • Ensure all stages of the bid process are followed, documented and reported on
  • Identify and manage main commercial and contractual risks within bids
  • Communicate effectively with clients and prospects, building relationships and understanding bid requirements to shape winning proposals
  • Maintain knowledge of industry news, competitor activity and client strategies
  • Support the Bid Writer and submissions team in developing tender response strategies and pre-qualification questionnaire answers
  • Manage tender deadlines and deliverables
Person
  • Proven experience as a Bid Manager, Tender Manager or Head of Bid with demonstrable success in winning major construction tenders
  • Substantial background in construction bidding across multiple sectors, ideally with knowledge of healthcare, education, residential, commercial or infrastructure projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate complex project information into compelling tender narratives
  • Creative and innovative thinking skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and team coordination skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Understanding of commercial principles, contract risk and pre-qualification questionnaire compliance
  • Ability to manage teams whilst managing multiple concurrent bids
  • Commercial awareness of competitor activity and industry trends
