A leading government digital service in the UK is seeking a Senior Backup and Recovery Engineer to manage and design backup solutions within a hybrid working model. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in backup applications and cloud environments, coupled with a passion for maintaining IT infrastructure. The competitive pay reaches up to £68,517, and the role offers a comprehensive benefits package including a robust pension scheme and professional development opportunities.
We are looking for an outstanding Senior Backup and Recovery Engineer to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital, to assist in the design of Infrastructure services in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles.
We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives.
DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.
The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.
We're on the lookout for someone who's passionate about building and maintaining robust IT infrastructure. If you know your way around backup and recovery in both cloud and on‑prem environments and you care about stability, resilience and security then this is the role for you.
You'll be working alongside a talented bunch of architects, engineers and delivery teams to support the tech behind some of the UK's most important public services. It's a big job with real impact, think enterprise‑scale systems, but in the heart of government.
You'll help design and run backup solutions, keep services secure and available and lead the charge when things go wrong, making sure systems bounce back quickly. You'll also support junior colleagues, work with Linux and Windows and get stuck into service reviews, audits and improvement plans.
We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £68,517
You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £16,000 per year.
A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time. You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexitime. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
We know your time is valuable, so our application and selection process are just two stages:
