Motorola Solutions is seeking a Backend Engineer for the Alta Video team in Uxbridge. The role focuses on developing the core backend of a cloud-based video management system, including distributed services for cameras, access control, and sensors.

You will work within an agile team that values autonomy, collaboration, quality and security, with a hybrid pattern requiring 1-2 days in the office weekly.

Qualifications

• Has experience working as a software developer.
• Experience building the backend for large cloud-based distributed systems.
• Experience with a backend language such as Go, C++, Java, Rust or Python.
• Enthusiastic and willing to learn new things.
• Go is the default language, but other languages/frameworks are used and learning is encouraged.

Job Description

Please note, this is a hybrid role based out of the Uxbridge office for 1 to 2 days a week. The Backend team develops the core of the Alta Video Management System. These are Cloud based distributed systems monitoring and managing Video Cameras, Access Control Systems and Sensors. The Backend team is responsible for analyzing, developing, designing, and maintaining the entire backend ecosystem. This includes developing new features, adding capabilities and increasing capacities, along with maintaining the existing CI/CD systems and customer deployments. We are an agile team that prides ourselves in allowing great autonomy and valuing collaboration, quality and security throughout.

Basic Requirements

• Has experience working as a software developer.
• Has experience in building the backend for large cloud based distributed systems.
• Has experience of a backend language such as Go, C++, Java, Rust or Python.
• Wants a career where their creative abilities will make a difference to the world of technology and where they will be part of an impressive R&D environment.
• Is passionate about writing high-quality code.
• Can demonstrate outstanding technical ability.
• We default to programming using Go, but also use a wide variety of different languages and frameworks.
• It is not expected that you would be familiar with Go (or any of the other languages we use) but you should be enthusiastic and willing to learn new things.

Bonus Qualifications

• Understanding of service-oriented architectures and building cloud-based products.
• Experience with Machine Learning, Computer Vision, AI technologies.
