This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Engineer, Node.js + AWS in EMEA.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will join a high-impact engineering team building scalable and reliable systems for a fast-growing SaaS platform. You'll play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing backend services that support global-scale operations. Working in a collaborative and fully remote environment, you'll contribute to critical initiatives that enhance performance, reliability, and customer experience. Accountabilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js and AWS technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver seamless and efficient solutions.
  • Participate in product discovery, planning, and deployment phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Optimize systems for high transaction volumes, ensuring robustness, concurrency, and fault tolerance.
  • Implement clean, maintainable, and secure code following software engineering best practices.
  • Continuously improve system performance and scalability through proactive problem-solving and testing.
  • Drive engineering excellence by mentoring peers, reviewing code, and contributing to architecture discussions.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a software engineer, with a strong focus on backend development.
  • Proven expertise in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript, along with proficiency in at least one other server-side language.
  • Strong SQL knowledge, particularly with PostgreSQL - including query optimization, schema design, and data migrations.
  • Solid understanding of OOP principles and design patterns for building scalable systems.
  • Experience developing and securing APIs using JWT, validation, and queue-based systems.
  • Ability to design systems for scalability and handle high-volume performance under load.
  • Comfortable working in fully remote, distributed teams with excellent communication and self-management skills.
  • A business-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering impactful, customer-centered solutions.
