Job summary

Descrial is hiring Backend Engineers to build the services Descrial runs on. The role focuses on multi-tenant data and workflow services, bridging Java/Spring with Python AI services.

You'll work in a small core team in King’s Cross, London, with CI/CD discipline and collaboration with Bengaluru delivery. You will design REST and asynchronous Python services, enforce tenant isolation, access control and configuration, and ensure safe failure and audit trails.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend engineering for production SaaS or platform systems.
• Strong Python, using FastAPI or comparable frameworks.
• Solid SQL/PostgreSQL experience; ability to work at Java/Spring boundaries.
• Production AWS experience and comfortable with Git, CI/CD and Linux.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools daily, such as Cursor or Claude Code.
• Degree in engineering, computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design REST and asynchronous services in Python 3.11+ and FastAPI, working at Java/Spring boundaries with PostgreSQL and async SQLAlchemy persistence.
• Implement tenant isolation, context, role-based access and configuration.
• Maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests with pytest and pytest-asyncio; uphold code review standards.
• Deploy and operate on AWS using EKS/ECS patterns, RDS and S3; improve queries, caching, and throughput.
