Job summary

Deliveroo in London is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and evolve our new Common case-management system powering support-case handling across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo.

You will own significant end‑to‑end initiatives across our backend services: case lifecycle, routing and assignment, queue management, case evidence and history, and migration from legacy systems. This is a hands‑on role demanding strong technical ownership and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering experience with scalable services and data models.
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language and production-grade code.
• Ownership of complex, customer-facing or operations-critical projects from design to rollout.
• Ability to estimate work and plan across teams with dependencies and risks.
• Hands-on experience using AI development tools while ensuring security and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead one or more case-management initiatives from discovery to rollout and ownership.
• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs for case creation, routing, and queue management.
• Deliver parity with legacy platforms while migrating traffic safely across platforms.
• Write design documents detailing interactions, dependencies, and delivery plans.
• Mentor engineers, participate in hiring, and drive quality through reviews and observability.
• Collaborate with product and operations to define problems and shape the roadmap.
